USPS to buy 50,000 delivery vehicles in $2.98 billion initial order -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters). – The U.S. WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Postal Service announced Thursday that it has placed an initial order of $2.98 billion for 50,000 Oshkosh next-generation delivery trucks. It also stated that the vehicles will be equipped with at least 10,019 electric batteries.

USPS rejected an offer by Environmental Protection Agency and the White House to reconsider plans to acquire mainly gasoline-powered vehicles.

Louis DeJoy of the U.S. Postmaster stated that Thursday’s USPS purchase of an electric vehicle was increasing from 5,000 to 10,019.

USPS indicated that it anticipates the vehicles to start appearing on carrier routes late in 2023.
