KKR confirms interest in TIM deal-sources -Breaking

REUTERS/Stefano RellandiniMILAN (Reuters) – KKR continues to be interested in takingover Telecom Italia (MI:), The U.S. investment company stated in a letter this week to the Italian telephone group that it had “positive exchanges” on the subject with Italian authorities, according to two sources close to the matter.
According to sources, KKR stated that it is open to discussions with Telecom Italia about a possible integration of fixed-line assets of the group with Open Fiber’s state-backed rival.
Sources said that although KKR did not originally plan to merge Open Fiber with TIM, the New York-based fund was open for discussion about the antitrust implications and the potential value of such a deal for FiberCop, in which KKR is an investor.
