BRUSSELS (Reuters: Alphabet) (NASDAQ:). Sundar Pichai, Chief Executive Officer of Alphabet (NASDAQ), will be meeting Europe’s chief antitrust officer on March 30 for a discussion on competition and digital issues. This was a statement by a European Commission official on Thursday.

Alphabet has confirmed that the meeting was held.

Margrethe Vestager has paid more than 8 Billion Euros ($8.8 Billio) in penalties to the most well-known internet search engine worldwide in the past decade. This was for preventing rivals from shopping comparison sites and online advertising as well as its Android mobile operating systems.

Also, she is investigating Alphabet unit Google’s digital advertising business as well as its online display advertisement deal with Meta Platforms Inc.

Vestager also suggested rules to force Google, and other U.S. technology giants, to alter their business models.
