BERLIN, (Reuters) – Volkswagen (DE.) will delay its ID.5 electric vehicle launch by one month. This is due to delays in Ukraine’s wire harness supply.
According to Automobilwoche’s first report, the shortage meant the carmaker couldn’t produce sufficient demonstration and exhibition vehicles to meet the needs of all its partners.
Automobilwoche’s letter stated that “To ensure equal treatment for all partners, vehicles which are in the destination stations have not been delivered yet.”
We will redistribute a portion of the exhibit vehicles to make sure that the vehicle is available nationwide for all agents.
Volkswagen Zwickau’s plant is currently producing ID.5; production was temporarily stopped due to shortages from the War in Ukraine, but will resume next week.
