White House deputy press secretary has COVID, Biden not close contact -Breaking

(Reuters) -White House Deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was traveling with U.S. President Joe Biden on a European trip. She test positive for COVID-19, but she isn’t considered to have had close contact.

In a White House statement, she stated: “I saw President last yesterday in a socially distant meeting. The President isn’t considered a close touch as defined by CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] guidance.”

The system did not indicate when Biden had taken his last negative test.

Jen Psaki, press secretary, tested positive last week for coronavirus.

Jean-Pierre stated that she had been vaccinated and only experienced mild symptoms. She would, in accordance with White House protocol, return to work after five days of isolation and a negative blood test.
