Elon Musk says he’s considering building a new social media platform

Elon Musk tweeted Saturday that he’s “considering” building a new social network platform. However, he did not provide any information on the design or operation of his hypothetical social media platform.

It TeslaAfter claiming that Twitter does not allow free speech, SpaceX billionaire Bill Gates made this comment.

Musk sent this tweet on Friday: “Given Twitter acts as the de facto town square, failingto adhere to freedom of speech principles fundamentally undermines democracy.” How can we help? He asked if a new platform was needed.

Musk also tweeted on Friday “free speech essential for functioning democracy” and asked Twitter if it “rigorously follows this principle.”

Twitter. claims it is committed to freedom of expressionCNBC reached out to the company but they did not respond immediately.

Examinator oversight

Tesla CEO is not happy that regulators have been looking at his tweets.

Musk was subpoenaed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in November after he asked his Twitter followers if he should sell 10% of his Tesla stock — causing shares to fall.

The February issue of Musk accused the SECharassing him and trying to stop his freedom of speech.

While he tried to cancel the subpoenas, the SEC declared last week: “Musk’s motion to cancel is substantively and procedurally deficient.”

The regulator told a judgeMusk’s Twitter posts about Tesla are still a subject of government investigation. Even if the court rejects a 2018 agreement between the SEC and Musk, it will not affect Musk’s ability to tweet about Tesla.

Follow in Trump’s steps?

Musk would not be the first to leave the well-established social media sites and start their own.

Donald Trump, former President of the United States, launched Truth Social in February as part of the Trump Media and Technology Group. Since January 2021, Trump is banned from Twitter.

Rumble and Parler platforms have launched elsewhere in an effort not to deter people from FacebookInstagram, Twitter, TikTok.

Parler was taken from Apple’s App store after it was accused of inciting violence during Jan. 6 riots. After some adjustments by the company, Parler was restored to Apple’s App Store in April.

Musk has in the past proclaimed that he and his companies are working on exciting products scheduled for years into the future — but often, the proposed innovations aren’t realized within the projected timeline.

Musk, for instance, stated that Tesla would soon have one million fully autonomous vehicles at its “Autonomy Day”, held in April 2019.robotaxisIn 2020, “on the road. Robotaxis are still not available.
