NioThe company confirmed Monday that deliveries have begun on time for its ET7 luxury sedan. That sent shares traded in America of the Chinese electric car maker higher during morning trading.

Nio stated in a statement, that the first batch ET7s were delivered Monday at an event held by the company’s headquarters in Hefei in China.

Preproduction ET7s were available for testing in Nio’s test drive program in March. The company said Monday that more than 80 people have tested the ET7 and that it has received orders for test drives at a higher rate than anticipated. It didn’t say how many new orders the company has received.

ET7, the new Nio-electric vehicle that uses the second-generation architecture of the company called NT2.0, is the first. New features such as driver-assist technology and more robust computing power are possible with the new architecture. A smaller sedan, the ET5, and an SUV, the ES7 are two more Nio models that were built using the NT2.0 architecture. They will join the ET7 in the coming years.

The ET7 is equipped with an array of sensors and cameras, including an integrated lidar scanner, in addition to its new architecture. Nio’s driver-assist technology and eventual fully autonomous driving will benefit from the sensors and additional computing power.

Nio stated that subscribers to an automatic highway-driving program similar to Nio were accepted TeslaStarting in the fourth quarter 2022, ET7 owners will have access to Autopilot in certain regions.
