(Reuters] – President Ray Curry, United Auto Workers (UAW), said Tuesday that he hadn’t had any discussions with Tesla (NASDAQ;) or Elon Musk (CEO) about a union vote of workers at its California facility.

Musk sent a tweet on March 3, saying that he would invite the UAW “to hold a Union vote at their convenient.” Tesla won’t stop them.”

Curry stated that Tesla might appeal a U.S. National Labor Relations Board ruling that the company violated U.S labor law, and would “reinstate some employees who were terminated.”

Curry stated, “That would have been a good-faith effort if they were open to that type of exchange.”

Curry indicated that Curry would be open to the opportunity. Curry stated, “It’s not a whim or anything else…it’s about those workers being able to have a voice within their workplace.”

Tesla has not yet responded to my request for comment.

Tesla was ordered by the NLRB to instruct Musk to delete a 2018 Tweet in which he stated that employees would lose their stock options if a union was formed.

Musk has repeatedly criticised the UAW. On Tuesday, he tweeted: “UAW slogan – ‘Fighting for the right to embezzle money from auto workers!'”

Musk was speaking about the guilty plea made by a UAW Local Official to take $2.2 Million from union funds.

Curry claimed that the union had implemented significant reforms. He also stated that auditors from the organization had discovered wrongdoing. The matter was referred to federal prosecutors, which resulted in Curry’s plea of guilty.
