Major automakers back tough U.S. vehicle emissions rules in court battle -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters), – A court challenge was brought by some states as well as ethanol groups, Wednesday saw major U.S. and international automakers back the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) stricter vehicle emissions regulations.

Texas, along with 15 other states, have challenged the EPA’s vehicle emission rules. These rules reverse a rollback tailpipe rules made under President Donald Trump.

Nearly all of the major automakers are represented by the Alliance for Automotive Innovation. In a court filing, the Alliance for Automotive Innovation stated that the EPA rule will “challenge the industry”, but provide automakers with “critically essential flexibilities.”

According to the group, automakers are keen to maintain “critical regulatory provisions that support electric vehicle technology.”
