On Thursday, the White House announced that 1,000,000 barrels per day of U.S. oil will be released from its strategic reserves in order to reduce gas prices and combat inflation.

The Biden Administration released a fact sheet that showed the president intends to tap the country’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve over the next six-months as domestic producers increase production. It also stated that this move was made after talks with American partners.

In a press release, the White House stated that this is the largest ever oil release. “This release is unimaginable: The world has not seen an unprecedented release of oil resources at this high a rate per day for this long of time.” This record-breaking release will supply a bridge to domestic production at the end of this year.
