(Reuters) – Ford Motor Co (NYSE:) Co said Thursday it would stop production at Flat Rock Assembly Plant (Michigan) next week because of a worldwide semiconductor shortage.

Automobile industry faces a chip shortage due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, high prices of cars have partly offset this impact.

According to the automaker, there would be a decrease in vehicle volumes during the current quarter due to the shortage of chips.

Ford’s Kansas city assembly plant, which produces F-150 pickup trucks, was forced to stop production last month because of a chip shortage.

Ford stated that production at the Detroit-based automaker’s other North American facilities will be maintained as usual.
