© Reuters India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 1.18%Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
The NSE closed with the Index up 1.21% and the Gaining 1.18%.
They were the top performers at the session NTPC Ltd (NSI:) rose by 5.78%, or 7.80 points, to close at 142.80. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS) gained 4.19%, or 15.05 point to reach 374.40. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. was up 3.81% (or 8.25 points), to 225.05 in the late trade.
They were also the session’s worst performers Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS), fell 2.35% to trade at 2,240.15 by the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS) fell 0.82%, or 12.35 point to close at 1,487.10; Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. was down 0.66%, or 6.05 to 908.70.
Top performers in the BSE Sensex 30 include NTPC Ltd. (BO :), which rose 5.93% at 142.95, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (BO :), which was up 3.74% at 224.95, and IndusInd Bank Ltd.. (BO 🙂 who gained 3.20% at 965.00.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.80% to 1,487.35 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which lost 0.72% to settle at 908.25 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.59% to 4,280.05 at the close.
The India National Stock Exchange saw rising stocks surpass declining ones by 1581, 252 and 19, respectively. 19 closed unchanged. On the Bombay Stock Exchange 2632 rose while 647 fell, and 101 closed unchanged.
The shares of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (NS:), rose by 3.81%, or 8.25 to 225. The shares in Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (BO:), rose to 3-years highests, rising by 3.74% (8.10 to 229.95).
The implied volatility index of Nifty 50 options was at an all-time low of 10.34%, to 18.43, a new one month low.
The April delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 0.83%, or 16.10, to $1.933.10 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil rose 0.11 percent to $100.39 per barrel in May, and the Brent oil contract for June traded at $105.15 per barrel.
USD/INR fluctuated between 75.99 and 0.10%, with EUR/INR rising 0.05% from 84.03.
At 98.48, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.12%.
