REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration(Reuters) – AerCap Holdings NV is set to provide twelve new Airbus aircraft for the Italian state-owned airline ITA Airways beginning next year. This was announced by AerCap Holdings NV, which is also known as the top-rated aircraft lessor in the world.
AerCap submitted a $3.5B insurance claim Wednesday for over 100 Russian jets. It has now signed lease agreements with ITA for 10 Airbus A320neo and 2 Airbus A330neo airplanes.
AerCap, which is based in Dublin, had the greatest exposure to Moscow when European Union sanctions led to the end of Russian leases. This account for 5% (or 5%) of the company’s fleet.
AerCap owned 135 aircrafts and 14 engines under lease to Russia, but it has now repossessed 22 of these aircraft and removed three engines.
On Wednesday, the Italian government indicated that they wanted to reach a settlement for ITA Airways sale before mid-June.
