DETROIT — Jeep has redesigned an all-electric concept version of its flagship Wrangler, as the brand pivots from gas guzzlers to zero-emissions EVs.

One year later, the Jeep Wrangler Magneto2.0 concept car arrives StellantisBrand unveiled the first version of the all-electric SUV. The concept vehicle is a product that automakers make to demonstrate future plans or gauge consumer interest.

Based on Jeep’s Wrangler Rubicon SUV model, this concept SUV features a Magneto 2.0 engine that can achieve 0-60 MPH in just 2 seconds. At 6.8 seconds this is quicker than the Wrangler Magneto1.0 and it’s in line. Tesla’s ultra-performance Plaid models.

Jeep stated that the Magneto 2.0 was capable of delivering up to 850 feet-pounds of torque and 625 horses. Jeep has not yet released the range for the vehicle’s electric motor.

The Wrangler Magneto 2.0 was unveiled online by Jeep Friday, ahead of this year’s Jeep Easter Safari in Moab (Utah). Jeep uses this event to demonstrate the potential of its vehicles, and also gauge customers’ interest in new products.

It is not available for purchase as the Magneto Concept is not sold to customers. Jeep will produce an electric Wrangler sometime in the future.

Stellantis has made Jeep a central part of their growth and electrification plan for its company, Stellantis. It was created last year by the merger of Fiat Chrysler with French automaker Groupe PSA. Stellantis invests at least $35.5 billion In electric cars and related technologies until 2025

Christian Meunier, CEO of Jeep, stated that every Jeep new model will include some type of electrification within the next few years. These plans will include hybrid and so-called “PHEVs” that combine electrification and internal combustion engines like the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee models currently in production.

Four other concept or custom Jeep cars were also released for the Moab offroading event. There were also other vehicles such as an off-road Grand Cherokee Trailhawk PHEV prototype and modified Jeep Wrangler or Gladiator vehicles.
