(Reuters) -A Russian rocket attack on a train station in eastern Ukraine killed more than 30 and injured over 100 others on Friday, as people tried to flee to safer areas of Ukraine.

According to the report, two Russian rockets hit a Kramatorsk-area station that is used for evacuation of civilians from under attack by Russian forces.

Ukrainian Railways stated in a statement that two rockets had struck Kramatorsk Railway Station.

Later, it added that “according to operational data more than 30 people died and over 100 were injured in the rocket attack against Kramatorsk railway Station.”

Reuters was unable to verify this information. Russia didn’t immediately respond to the news reports about the attack or the death toll. Since invading Ukraine, February 24, Russia has repeatedly denied that it targeted civilians.

The head of Ukrainian Railways stated that three trains carrying evacuatees were stopped by the Ukrainian Railways in the same part of Ukraine Thursday following an air strike.

Officials in Ukraine claim that Russian forces were regrouping to launch a new offensive. They also claimed that Moscow wants to seize any territory within the Donbas, an eastern area of Ukraine which borders Russia.

Some local authorities have been asking civilians to flee the area while they are safe and possible.
