JetBlue offers flight attendants $1,000 attendance bonuses for spring travel surge

JetBlue AirwaysAccording to company messages, the airline is giving flight attendants $1,000 bonus if they do not call in from Friday to May. This move was made to help ensure that staffing levels are maintained during an increase in demand for travel.
The message was sent to staff on Friday, and CNBC saw it. It stated that flight attendants would receive $100 bonuses for booking open flights.
Over the last year, airlines have been hit hard by staff shortages, especially during Covid peak periods, when there were many omicron infections that left crews without work for the end of the year. Airlines are prepared to pay more in order to get workers to work extra shifts to prevent costly flight disruptions.
The memo stated, “The spring rewards program comes at a moment where every flight matters as hours and staffing levels have not been where they should be,” Ed Baklor from JetBlue, JetBlue’s head customer care and programs.
JetBlue didn’t immediately comment.
