(Reuters] -YouTube blocked Duma TV’s broadcast from Russia’s lower parliament. This angered officials, who suggested that restrictions could be placed on the streaming giant.

YouTube posted a Saturday message stating that the Duma channel was “terminated due to a violation YouTube’s Terms and Service”.

YouTube is owned by Alphabet (NASDAQ) Inc. Russian communication regulator Roskomnadzor has put YouTube under severe pressure. Officials quickly responded.

YouTube appears to have signed its own warrant. Copy content to Russian sites. Maria Zakharova (foreign ministry spokesperson) said via Telegram that she was urgently taking action.

According to communications regulator, it requested that Google immediately restore Duma channel access.

Roskomnadzor declared that “the American IT firm adheres to an pronounced antiRussian posture in the information warfare unleashed west against our country.”

Google stated in an emailed message to Reuters it is committed to compliance all relevant sanctions and trade compliance laws.

“If an account breaches our Terms of Service we will take necessary action. For any information or changes, our teams closely monitor the situation.

Vyacheslav Vodin, the speaker at Duma, stated that YouTube’s action was yet another proof of Washington’s violations of freedoms and rights.

The USA is trying to monopolize information promotion. It cannot happen,” Volodin stated on Telegram.

Since the February 24th invasion of Ukraine by thousands of soldiers, Russia already has restricted Twitter access (NYSE:), and Meta Platforms’ top-flights Facebook (NASDAQ;) and Instagram.

Russia attempted to ban Telegram in the past, which was eventually lifted by its officials around mid-2020.

Roskomnadzor stated that the decision was not a surrender but a response to the fact that Pavel Durov (the app’s Russian creator) had agreed to work with Roskomnadzor in fighting terrorism and extremem on the platform.
