(Reuters) -The U.S. Commerce Department has confirmed that seven Boeing (NYSE ) 737 planes used by Belavia’s national carrier were in clear violation of U.S. export control laws.

These seven Belarusian-operated planes are the first ones to be identified after restrictions were tightened on Belarus. According to the Commerce Department, they should be prevented from flying internationally if there are restrictions on their operations abroad.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014, the list of restricted planes now contains 146 Russian-owned and operated aircraft, as well seven Belarusian ones.

Belavia didn’t immediately reply to our request for comment.

Companies around the globe are prohibited from offering any maintenance or repair services, refuelling, spare parts, or other support to identified aircrafts under the export control.

The Commerce Department actions are part of the Biden administration’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which the department said Belarus has enabled and supported.

Don Graves was Deputy Commerce Secretary. He stated that Russia and Belarus had rejected the international rule law and made it very clear they did not merit the opportunities to participate in the global economy. This includes international travel.

The department intensified its efforts to crack down on Russian airlines last week. It slapped Aeroflot and Azur Air with enforcement actions in violation of American export control laws.

This enforcement action targets not specific planes but all airlines and denies them export privileges. The U.S. believes that the enforcement actions will render these carriers ineffective over time.

The United States identified over 170 Russian aircraft that were violating U.S. sanction. This included 40 Aeroflot Boeing 737 and 777 airplanes, 21 Azur Boeing planes, and 17 UTair Boeing jets. They have removed those that had left Russia.

Russian aircraft have been banned from U.S. skies by the United States, European Union, and other countries.
