BOSTON, (Reuters) – The Boston Marathon will return to April for the third time. It returns with the fastest field ever in its history on Monday. This race boasts a stellar roster of Olympic and previous winners.

Peres Jepchirchir, Kenya, is the leader of women’s racing. She’s coming off her Tokyo Olympic gold and New York City Marathon victories last year. Local hero Molly Seidel will be looking to add to her bronze medal from that Olympics as well as her triumph in her debut Boston Marathon.

Kenya’s Benson Kipruto will attempt to make it again in the men’s division. He won last year at the delayed race. But, this year, his compatriot Albert Korir from New York, as well as Sisay Lemma (Ethiopia) who was victor last year.

“It’s exciting. It is always exciting to feel as if you are coming to your local race. Seidel, an American, and a former Boston resident said that he was excited to try the course.

Seidel shocked the marathon world when she won Olympic bronze in her third marathon. She then finished fourth in New York in November. But her success doesn’t change her strategy.

“It’s helped me to feel more secure that I am here and that my place is in the front pack. She said that she approaches races the same way.

“I will race as hard as ever. Although I was doubtful that Tokyo would be my home, it wasn’t something I didn’t know deep inside.

Jepchirchir, who will be making her Boston debut, has also modified her training in order to adapt to the course. This should give her an advantage over the other runners in the division which has 10 of them running under 2 minutes 23 seconds.

Jepchirchir explained, “I used watch it. And I heard that its course is hard.” So I modified my training slightly to run up and down hills like the Boston Marathon course.

The world’s second fastest marathoner Kenenisa Begkele, Ethiopia’s, will no longer be in the men’s team. But, we will see eleven runners with personal bests of under 2 minutes.

Kenya’s Kipruto declared, “I’m so glad to be back. This year also, I’m ready for another fight.”

Boston Marathon returns to Patriots Day for the first-time since 2019. After cancellations and delays due to COVID-19, athletes and fans alike have a reason to rejoice.

CJ Albertson, an American runner said that he can feel the difference in the Boston atmosphere by being back at Patriots Day and all of the usual (Boston Marathon), Fan Fest events.

It was an amazing year last year. This year is even better. I have only been here for 12 hours but it feels like this year has reached a new level. “It’s fun to come back.

Marcel Hug from Switzerland holds the course record in men’s wheel chair and is returning to Boston Marathon for his sixth title.

Manuela Schar (also from Switzerland) will be defending her title as a women’s wheelchair champion with another win in Boston.

It is the 9th anniversary of the tragic 2013 Boston Marathon bombings. On Friday, the Boston Mayor Michelle Wu led the people in a moment silence during a wreath-laying ceremony.
