Musk hinted that he might make a hostile offer after Thursday’s TED Talk. He would do away with Twitter’s board to submit the offer directly to shareholders. Musk tweeted: “It’d be utterly irresponsible to not put this offer up for a shareholder vote.”
Musk became the second largest shareholder of the San Francisco-based social media company after acquiring a 9.1% stake.
Twitter adopted Friday a “poison tablet” to stop Musk from raising his stake.
Thoma Bravo was a technology-oriented private equity firm with more than $103billion in assets. It informed Twitter on Friday that it is exploring the possibility to put together a bid.
