(Reuters) – FlickPlay Gaming and The Sandbox announce a partnership Monday. The new partnership will enable players to use a cryptocurrency asset on each platform, a crucial step in building the metaverse.

People can freely move between virtual worlds using different platforms, and take their virtual clothes and belongings with them. This is called the metaverse.

This idea will take many years to realize and requires collaboration from companies as well as metaverse developers such as Epic Games, Microsoft (NASDAQ) and Meta Platforms Inc.

FlickPlay lets players unlock digital collectibles through an interactive map. They then use the phone’s camera on their device to overlay collectibles onto their real surroundings and interact with them to create videos. Flicky will be the debut collection of non-fungible tokens.

Some people will have the opportunity to purchase Flickys and use them as avatars on The Sandbox. The Sandbox is both a mobile web-based game and a web/mobile app where they can create three-dimensional virtual worlds.

Flicky owner will get a version for The Sandbox initially, but they’ll soon be able use the exact same version on The Sandbox. Pierina Merino founder and chief executive officer of FlickPlay said that FlickPlay is working with The Sandbox in order to achieve interoperability at the end.

The Sandbox co-founder Sebastien Borget said that the integration may have been the first to link an NFT in virtual space with physical use.

FlickPlay and his partnership will “create an immersive experience that extends to the metaverse, The Sandbox” he explained.
