CHICAGO (Reuters), United Airlines Holdings, (NASDAQ:) Wednesday projected a profit of $2.5 million for the second quarter. The company expects booming travel demand and the greatest quarterly revenue ever recorded.
However, the Chicago-based carrier posted a slighter-than-expected loss during the first quarter because of rising fuel costs.
United reported an adjusted loss for March to its shares of $4.24, in comparison with analyst expectations of losing $4.22 per share according to Refinitiv. A year ago, the airline suffered a $7.50 loss per share.
While revenue for the quarter ended at $7.57billion, it was $3.2billion more than a year ago. However, that number was less than Wall Street’s estimates of $7.68billion.
