(Reuters] – Getlink, the operator of Channel Tunnel Getlink reported a 50% rise in revenue for the first quarter of 2014. This is as Europe recovers slowly from the pandemic.

Yann Leriche, Chief Executive Officer of the company said that the strong rebound in passenger traffic as well as the high levels attained over Easter holidays showed customers’ desire to continue their travels.

Getlink reported that Getlink’s 2022 first quarter saw strong organic growth, and record summer bookings.

Jan-March revenues rose 46% to 227.5 million euros (or $247.03 million). Revenue from the shuttle service and rail network increased 55% and 57% respectively.

Traffic under the Channel is recovering thanks to an gradual lifting of travel restrictions. Passenger traffic jumped 154% in January-March and truck traffic climbed 23%.

Getlink stated that Eurostar was one of the main customers operating trains between France (Britain), Belgium (Belgium) and the Netherlands. There was a 1,032% increase on cross-Channel traffic during the first quarter.

Due to disruptions in international supply chains, cross-Channel rail freight experienced a 15% decrease in trains.
