LONDON (Reuters). Exxon Mobil Two sources close to the plans said that (NYSE:) may withdraw completely from Russia by June 24. This is in response to the earlier U.S. decision noting to continue its oil and gas activities in Russia.

Exxon Mobil resigned last month from employees that are U.S. citizens after Moscow began what it called its “special military operation” in Ukraine. However, it didn’t give a date for withdrawal.

Initial departures were made by staff members from large-scale oil and gas production on Sakhalin Island, Russia’s Far East. This includes the Sakhalin 1 Project.

According to two people familiar with the talks, it’s now looking at closing down other Russian businesses, such as sales of Mobil lubricants. This is expected to happen by June 24, according to Reuters.

Exxon did not immediately respond to our request for comment.

Exxon had more than 1000 employees in Russia last year. It has offices located in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg according to the company’s website.

The company’s discussions are a result of dozens other Western companies – including Apple (NASDAQ:), Boeing (NYSE;), Shell (LON :), Equinor – who have halted operations in Russia or made plans to do so.
