(Reuters) – Carnival Corp (NYSE:) announced Tuesday that Josh Weinstein (its chief operations officer) would take over as the new chief executive officer. He replaces Arnold Donald.

Donald has served as Carnival’s CEO for the past nine years. He led Carnival to record profits in 2018 and will now be the vice-chair of Carnival.

Weinstein, a 20-year Carnival veteran, takes control at an important time when the company is slowly resuming operations after a lengthy pandemic-led hiatus. He also has to navigate new challenges such as a spike in fuel prices due the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
