NFL announces draft ticket NFTs in 2022 for Flow

NFTs have been explored by the National Football League (NFL) once more. A new NFT collection will be featured by the league to mark the 2022 NFL Draft. The event, which is scheduled to happen later this week from April 28-30, will feature card-themed digital collectibles inspired by each of the league’s 32 teams.

The NFL Draft NFTs launched on Monday on the league’s own Polygon-based platform. Each team had 52 NFTs available at $52 each. The latest NFTs for each team were also minted using the Flow blockchain, rather than Polygon which was used in previous NFL NFT drops.

Although each NFT is described as a “virtual commemorative ticket” for the NFL Draft, it would not serve as an actual access pass to the live event in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, this year’s “Inner Circle” guests, which includes fans chosen to represent each team on draft night, will also receive NFTs tied to an onsite prize promotion.

NFTs have been explored further by the league. It used the platform in February to sell virtual commemorative tickets, based upon Super Bowl LVI. A commemorative NFT ticket was also released by the NFL based upon past Super Bowl Championship games.

According to a representative from the league, newsmen were told by a spokesperson that more than 500,000 NFTs have been issued since the NFT marketplace was launched. The league considered this a win for engagement as nearly 45% of those 500,000 transactions were made directly with their owners.
