FRANKFURT – U.S. and German biotech company Qiagen, (NYSE:), NV claimed on Thursday that global supply chain bottlenecks are not currently affecting them as they had been stockpiling materials at their production plants amid pandemic uncertainties.

Roland Sackers, chief finance officer of the company that makes genetic diagnostics kits, including COVID-19, said at a press conference that the company can still rely on existing supplies for several weeks, despite China’s recent pandemic.

“Of course we are dependent in the medium-term on components that need to arrive. Sackers stated that the lockdown in Shanghai must be lifted quickly.

The CFO stated, “Thank God we don’t now have any products that are extremely perishable.”
