Coinbase’s NFT marketplace sees less than 1,000 transactions in first week

Coinbase (NASDAQ) revealed last year its intention to create an NFT market. Following that announcements, the platform will be able to accept Mastercard (NYSE) payments. On Wednesday, NFT’s long-awaited platform was finally launched. However, only 73 ETH were sold on the platform’s first week.

On April 20, Coinbase announced that its NFT platform was live in beta and accessible to “a small set of beta testers who’ll be invited based on their position” on its waitlist. It appears the company has either chosen to take things very slow with a limited number of beta testers or users have altogether lost interest in the company’s offering.

According to data from crypto analytics site Dune, Coinbase’s NFT marketplace has so far processed less than 1,000 transactions since its debut on April 20. This data is routed via Ox Project and shows that Coinbase’s NFT marketplace has processed less than 1,000 transactions in nine days.

The image shows that 742 people have used the platform to transact, with 503 buyers and 303 sellers.

Coinbase’s beta platform was only accessible to a limited number of people, so it is important to clarify that low usage statistics do not mean low patronage. OpenSea, a leading NFT platform marketplace, saw more than $800 million in Ethereum sales over the same time.
