Charles Hoskinson Welcomes Twitter’s Deplatformization

There have been many conversations and debates over Twitter about the drama between crypto enthusiasts in recent days. This is especially true for the discourse about Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter.

Charles Hoskinson, however, has been talking about the possibility of creating a distributed social media platform. It is in response the Apple (NASDAQ). Google (NASDAQ.) and Amazon (NASDAQ.) Web services threaten to delete Twitter from their app stores.

Specifically, Charles Hoskinson, the founder of , said that if Twitter is de-platformed it would be “the greatest gift to the blockchain industry since Santoshi introduced .”

Earlier, Hoskinson proposed this new plan by tweeting: “Elon if Twitter rejects your offer, then hit me up. Happy to build a decentralized one.”

Douglas Horn, Telos blockchain chief architect, tweeted that the project would be complete by 2035. A Twitter user joked about the inability to send more than 10 messages per hour, referring to technical problems with Cardano-based apps.

Meanwhile, a tweet by user Ben Goertzel read that the new platform would be “good fun to build some advanced AI into the Hoskinson/Musk decentralized system, for reputation, management, and transparent personalized automated feed curtain, etc”.

Many critics have argued that Elon’s Twitter takeover would remove freedom of speech and damage American democracy. The controversy is that Elon lifted suspensions on accounts like Truckers for Freedom, Tucker Carlson, Mark Levin and Tucker Carlson after the takeover.
