(Reuters) – Chinese regulators met with foreign and domestic banks in an emergency meeting to talk about how to protect China’s offshore assets against U.S. sanctions, similar to the ones imposed after Russia invaded Ukraine. The Financial Times reported that people who were familiar with the discussions said so.

According to the report, participants in the internal conference were officials of China’s central banking and finance ministry as well as executives from international and local banks.
