China’s financial capital of Shanghai has reduced the risk of COVID transmission at the local level. It also excluded cases from quarantine centres. Officials said that six out of sixteen districts had achieved zero-COVID status.
Gu Honghui, a city official said that this status can be achieved when the district experiences three consecutive days without any new daily infections.
The official from the city’s health department said public transportation will resume in five districts. He did not give a date.
Gu stated that, despite falling transmissions in Shanghai, a new round will be launched by Shanghai from Sunday to May 7.
