GENEVA (Reuters – On Monday, the U.N. human right office (OHCHR), stated that Ukraine’s civilian death toll has surpassed 3,000 since the Russian invasion of February 24th.

There has been an increase in death by 254 since Friday, when the toll stood at 3.153. OHCHR claimed that the actual death toll could be significantly higher because of access issues and ongoing corroboration efforts.

The rights office stated that most of the victims were hit by large-impact explosives such as air and missile strikes. It did not attribute responsibility.

Russia refers to its actions against Ukraine as a “special operation” in order to arm Ukraine and prevent fascists from taking over — a charge that Ukraine and the West reject as baseless.
