(Reuters) – The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) on Tuesday warned of larger-than-normal demand for power due to extreme hot weather expected in the region over May 6-9.

The grid operator stated that ERCOT had asked all power plants in the area to delay planned outages or to resume service from outages in progress to better serve Texasans.

ERCOT claimed that sufficient electricity is being projected to satisfy this large demand. It also coordinated closely with the Public Utility Commission as well as generation resource owners, transmission utilities and the Public Utility Commission to make sure they were prepared for severe heat.
