DETROIT – Ford MotorThe company announced Wednesday that it saw a 10.5% drop in sales for April compared to last year, and its losses are significantly smaller than those of recent months.

Ford and the wider auto industry are still at odds supply chain problemsSo, for over a year, there has been a shortage in semiconductor chips. Ford suffered a 20% drop in U.S. monthly sales between February and March due to this problem.

Andrew Frick was Ford’s vice president of sales and distribution. He said that while industry shortages of semiconductor chips persist, an improved inventory flow in March delivered a substantial share increase of 1 percentage points over a year back with Ford outperforming other industries.”

Ford has tried to make chip supply priority for the in-demand electric Mustang Mach-E, which saw nearly double its sales in April 2021. The March sales of the newer models, such as Bronco SUV and Maverick small pickups, also increased compared with March.

Due to shortages, Ford’s F-Series pickup trucks of full-size, such as the F-150 continue to be difficult to sell. Last month’s sales were 22% lower than usual, which means that year-end sales are down nearly 30%. F-Series Sales did rise by 15% over March. This indicates improved production.

Ford sold 609 027 vehicles in April. This is a 15% decrease from a year ago. Ford’s March-April sales were 11% higher than last year.
