China loyalist John Lee will be Hong Kong’s next leader

John Lee (a Beijing loyalist) has been elected Hong Kong’s new Chief Executive.

Lee was the only candidate for Hong Kong’s top job. won more than 1,416 votesOn Sunday, he won the election. His simple majority is all that’s required and he has more votes than the required 750.

Carrie Lam, outgoing chief executive said that she had sent her sincere congratulations and would submit a report to the Central People’s Government later this day.

“The current-term government will work with me to ensure that the transition is smooth, as well as the Chief Executive-elect. Lam released a statement in which he stated that the government would provide support for the assumed office of the new term government.

Lee (64), will take over Lam when he starts his five-year term.
