The United States Federal Open Market Committee voted on Wednesday to raise interest rates 0.5%. It was the largest increase in rate since over 20 years. The increase was the second in 2022. Seven more rate increases are expected for this year.
Jerome Powell, Federal Reserve Chair, reiterated the necessity to keep raising interest rates in order to fight inflation at a press conference after the FOMC meeting.
