This included the termination of many vendors and the filing criminal cases against these individuals for their misconduct.
BharatPe is IPO hopeful and allows shop owners make digital payments using QR codes. In January, it initiated a review of corporate governance to ease investor concerns over a dispute involving one of its founders’ personal investments.
After Ashneer Grover, cofounder, sued Uday Kotak (NASDAQ:) Pay India’s booming payment market for damages. He claimed that the bank denied him funding to make a personal investment and declined financing from SoftBank’s Paytm.
Reuters reported in January that an audit was to be done by BharatPe’s top executives. The objective of the audit is to determine if they are properly disclosing personal investments, and look for potential conflicts. This will lead to a brand new code.
Following a thorough review of the report, which was completed over two months to find gross negligence from a founder, BharatPe’s board recommended several crucial measures. The firm released a statement.
BharatPe announced it would introduce a new vendor purchasing policy in an effort to minimize the possibility of employees engaging with suspicious transactions to benefit themselves. Additionally, it will terminate several employees from departments that were directly connected to blocked vendors.
BharatPe said that many vendors who were involved in malpractices such as inflating or incorrect invoices have been stopped from doing business with the company. The company had already sent legal notices and filed civil or criminal charges against these vendors in the next days.
