Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The Japanese yen fell 0.58% at the Tokyo close, putting it at a 1-month high.

They were the top performers at the session Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO-), rose 6.2% or 480.00 to close at 8,200.00. Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd, (TYO) gained 4.69%, or 57.00 point to close at 1,273.00 TOTO Ltd. In late trade, the (TYO) index was up 3.26% to 4435.00 points.

Japan Steel Works Ltd. (TYO) was the worst performer of the session, falling 15.57% (471.00 points) to close at 2,554.00. Sumitomo Corp. (TYO-) fell 8.92% (or 183.00 points) to close at 1,868.00 Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:), was at 3,200.00 with a drop of 8.18%. This is a decrease of 285.00 points.

On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those in progress by 2125-1394, and ended unchanged at 261

The implied volatility index of Nikkei’s 225 options was at a 1 month high. It rose by 11.01% from 27.83 to reach a record.

Crude oil was 0.25 percent lower at $102.84/barrel for June delivery. Brent oil fell 0.37 percent to $105.57 per barrel in commodities trading. The June Gold Futures contract traded at $1,860.15 an ounce.

USD/JPY climbed 0.03%, to 130.29. EUR/JPY jumped 0.13%, to 137.65.

At 103.72, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.03%.
