Romania’s central bank boosts key interest rate to 3.75% -Breaking

REUTERS/Bogdan Cristel BUCHAREST, (Reuters) – The central bank of Romania raised its benchmark rate to 3.75% from the expected 75 basis points on Tuesday. They also warned that inflation will remain at double digits through 2023.
The bank increased its lending rate from 4.00% to 4.75% and its deposit rate from 2.00% to 2.75%. It also stated that it will retain tight control over market liquidity.
Reuters polled most analysts and found that they expected a rise of 50 basis points, but some forecast a larger increase by one percentage point.
