Bayer says Ukraine farmers progress with planting despite war -Breaking

FRANKFURT(Reuters) – Ukrainian farmers are making better progress than anticipated in preparing fields despite Russia’s attacks on Russia, Bayer, which is the biggest supplier of crop chemicals and seeds worldwide, said Tuesday.

After the first quarter results were released, Bayer chief executive Werner Baumann said that all the companies in Ukraine that are involved in (agricultural inputs) have done everything possible to ensure that Ukraine is supplied.

The CEO stated that “quite a lot of planting actually has occurred, which, given the circumstances is good news,”

Rodrigo Santos from Bayer’s Crop Science Unit stated that 75% of Ukraine’s crops have been planted so far in this growing season.

Bayer is not the only company Bayer uses for pesticides and seeds. Corteva Syngenta (NYSE:) and BASF.

Globally, prices of commodities such as corn and soybeans have risen amid concerns that Russia’s aggression on Ukraine could cause disruption to farming. Both countries are important exporters of grains.
