REUTERS/Carlo Allegri(Reuters) – The Federal Reserve’s attempts to lower inflation will cause turbulence in the U.S., but policymakers need to keep their feet on the ground, Loretta Mester from Cleveland Fed said Tuesday.
I am hopeful that there are still good opportunities, but it is up to us to make them happen. In an interview with Bloomberg Television, Mester stated that it won’t all be easy. It will bumpy. But we must persevere in our efforts to reduce inflation.
Mester said that volatility in recent stock market markets will not stop policymakers.
She stated, “This doesn’t alter our focus on long-term objectives on maximum employment or price stability.”
