Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The index dropped 0.26%, hitting a 52-week high, but rose 0.25%. It gained 0.98% at closing in NYSE.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ.:) rose by 2.18%, or 0.94 points, to trade at 44.01 at close. Salesforce.com Inc. (NYSE:), which gained 3.55 Points to finish at 167.15, and Microsoft Corporation(NASDAQ:) up 1.86% to 269.50.

International Business Machines (NYSE 🙂 was the worst performer of the session, falling 3.95% or 5.31 point to close at 129.13. JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:) declined 2.44% or 2.97 points to end at 118.89 and 3M Company (NYSE:) was down 2.14% or 3.26 points to 149.12.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Fortinet Inc (NASDAQ) rose 6.6% to 261.79. Sysco Corporation was up 6.13% and settled at 86.05 Microchip Technology Inc (NASDAQ:), which closed at 68.25 after gaining 6.13%

Dentsply Sirona Inc NASDAQ:, which declined 7.31% at 36.38 in trade late on Friday, was the worst performer. Newell Brands Inc NASDAQ: which suffered a loss of 6.76% and settled at 22.62 Altria Group (NYSE:), which fell 6.68% to 51.57 by the end.

These were the top performers in the NASDAQ Composite Baosheng Media Group Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ) – This rose by 42.28%, to 0.74 Appian Corp (NASDAQ:), which was up 38.59% and settled at 59.62 Vroom (NASDAQ): The stock gained 32.41% and closed at 1.43

The worst performers were Embark Technology Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 59.03% to 1.43 in late trade, Upstart Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 56.42% to settle at 33.61 and Cipher Mining Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 46.75% to 1.72 at the close.

On the New York Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those that were advancing by 1876 to1336, and 101 was unchanged.

Dentsply Sirona Inc’s shares fell to their 52-week lowest point, falling by 7.31% (or 2.87) to 36.38. Shares in JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.44% or 2.97 to 118.89. Embark Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares plunged to new lows, dropping 59.03% to 2.06 and 1.43. Shares in Upstart Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 56.42% or 43.52 to 33.61. Cipher Mining Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares fell to their lowest levels in over a decade, losing 46.75% (1.51 to 1.72).

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 5.06% to 32.99.

The June delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 1.04%, or 19.32, to $1.839.28 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil fell by 3.01 percent or 2.92% to reach $100.08 per barrel. The July Brent oil contract dropped 3.03%, or 3.21, to trade at $102.73 per barrel.

EUR/USD remained unchanged at 0.023% to 1.05 while USD/JPY rose 0.12% a 130.40.
