Dallas Federal Reserve names Lorie Logan new president to succeed Robert Kaplan

Dallas Federal Reserve appointed a new president last year to replace its previous one. This was in the wake of stock trading scandals.
An announcement on Wednesday stated that Lorie K. Logan will head the central bank branch.
Logan, who is currently the chief of New York Fed’s central trading desk, is well-known to Central bank watchers. She is the manager of System Open Market Account. This means she manages the Fed’s huge $9 trillion bond and asset portfolio.
Logan will officially take over her duties as of Aug. 22,
Logan, who is not only the SOMA operator but also serves as the New York Fed vice President. Logan is no stranger to meetings of the Federal Open Market Committee, which sets interest rates. Logan represents the Fed in the Bank for International Settlements.

The leaders of the committee stated, “Lorie is aware how the current economic difficulties in our country and the Fed’s actions affect all Americans. She will work towards a stronger economy.”
Logan joins the Fed in a crucial time when policymakers are trying to control inflation that is nearing 40-year highs. Already, the FOMC has authorized two rate increases this year of 75 basis points. This trend is likely to continue throughout 2019.
Logan stated, “I am looking forward to engaging business leaders and the community across the Eleventh District as well as representing the district’s hardworking citizens at the FOMC.” I am looking forward to moving to Texas, and getting involved in the local community.
