(Reuters) – The Houston Police Department shot and killed a Black male last month. His family said that he fled from officers after a pursuit with officers.

Jalen Randle’s family is calling on Houston police officials to release all body cam footage from the shooting.

At a press conference, Ben Crump, Ben Crump’s lawyer and prominent U.S. civil right figure stated that Jalen had been shot from behind.

The latest police shooting of Black men was part of a long line of unjustified police killings. This happened nearly two years ago after George Floyd, a police officer who killed George Floyd in Minneapolis, sparked protests worldwide against the bias of the U.S. penal justice system and police brutality.

According to Houston police, Randle is wanted by three felony warrants. The officers saw Randle enter his car, and began to stop him. Randle was still inside the vehicle as the driver drove off. The officers found a bag containing a gun in Randle’s hand.

According to police, body-camera footage from the shooting would be made public within thirty days. This is in line with their new policy. Police pointed out that the Harris County District attorney is also investigating the incident.
