WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – Former Vice President Mike Pence will hold a rally in support of Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. This is a clash with President Donald Trump’s as Republicans try to retain control over the crucial southern state.

Trump is clearly at odds with his vice president. Trump also continues to vent his grievances about the 2020 election. He makes false claims of voter fraud and continues to make them public. Republicans are now weighing their future.

“I am proud to offer my full support for four more years of Brian Kemp as governor of the great state of Georgia!” Pence said in a statement released by Kemp’s campaign for the May 23 event.

Trump has publicly endorsed the former U.S. To unseat Kemp in Georgia’s primary election, Senator David Perdue has been endorsed by Trump. Purdue was defeated in his reelection campaign in January 2021.

Trump called Kemp “the worst in election integrity” in a statement released on Thursday.

Trump blames Pence as well for failing to help him overturn Democrat Joe Biden’s win in 2020. In which he obtained the Electoral College, and got 81 million votes popular vote to Trump’s 74million.

The Republican nominee in the Republican primary on May 24, with Stacey Abrams (voting rights activist) as the top contender, will confront the Democratic candidate for governor. These results provide the best assessment to date of Trump’s capability to be kingmaker during the 2022 election.

A poll by Atlanta Journal-Constitution in April showed Kemp leading Perdue.

Georgia, once a stronghold of conservatives, saw two U.S. Senate positions go to Democrats after Biden won the presidency. This is the subject of an investigation by a grand jury into Trump’s claims to have tried to influence U.S. elections 2020 results.

Trump, but not Pence, haven’t officially declared their intention to run for the White House in 2024’s presidential election.
