WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – On Saturday, abortion rights advocates will demonstrate in American cities. This is to kick off “a summer on rage” if and when the U.S. Supreme Court reverses Roe v. Wade which legalized abortion across the country.

Planned Parenthood, Women’s March, as well as other rights organizations for abortion, organized more than 300 marches called “Bans Off Our Bodies”, with largest attendances in New York City, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.

These protests were in reaction to the leak on May 2, of a draft opinion that showed the court’s conservative major ready to reverse 1973’s landmark decision, which established the federal right to end a pregnancy.

It is likely that the final court ruling will be issued in June. This could allow states to prohibit abortion. A ruling that invalidates Roe could lead to half the states in America banning or restricting abortions.

According to organizers, they expect hundreds of thousands of people will participate in Saturday’s events. They also stated that this would be the start of many protests surrounding the Supreme Court’s decision.

Rachel Carmona of Women’s March stated, “This will be the summer of rage for women in this nation.” We will not be able to govern ourselves until our government works for us until all the violence against our bodies ceases and until we have the legal right to abortion.

Democrats who hold both the White House and the Congress Chambers hope that the Supreme Court’s decision will cause a backlash, which could help their candidate win the November midterm elections.

However, voters will have to weigh abortion rights with other issues like the rising prices of gas and food. And they might be skeptical that Democrats can protect abortion access after attempts to pass legislation to guarantee abortion rights were blocked by Congress.

New York City demonstrators plan to march over the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday while Washington protesters will gather at the Washington Monument before heading to the Supreme Court. Los Angeles protesters were planning to gather at City Hall. A group from Austin would meet at Texas’ capitol.

According to leaked opinions, Samuel Alito (Supreme Court Justice) and Brett Kavanaugh (Judges on the Supreme Court), protesters have demonstrated outside their homes over the past week.

Students for Life of America is an anti-abortion group that has chapters on campuses across the United States. It said it would be holding counter demonstrations in nine U.S. towns, including Washington, Saturday.
