(Reuters) – United States Senator Chris Van Hollen claimed on Sunday that he had suffered a mild stroke while delivering a speech at Western Maryland.

Van Hollen (56), was admitted after experiencing lightheadedness, acute neck pain and severe nausea, he stated in a statement.

Angiograms indicated that the stroke had caused a slight venous tear to the backside of his head. He added that it was temporary and that there would be no lasting effects.

Van Hollen’s announcement follows earlier statements by John Fetterman, Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor, that he had experienced a stroke but is on the “road to complete recovery.”
