Canada’s Telus to invest $17 billion in Alberta on network infrastructure -Breaking

REUTERS/Carlos Osorio(Reuters) – Telus Corp (NYSE:) Corp announced Tuesday that it will invest $17 Billion in the network infrastructure, operations, and spectrum throughout Canada’s Alberta for the next four-years as part of its efforts to grow its wireless networks.
Telus is Canada’s most important telecoms firm and has committed to investing $70 billion across Canada in 2026. According to the company, expansion will result in 8,000 additional jobs for Albertans.
Telecom companies in Canada are increasing their competition by developing networks in rural areas and expanding coverage to reach markets with few providers.
Telus Corp’s purchase also happens at a point when Rogers Communications Inc, a rival to Telus Corp (NYSE;) Communications Inc seeks to buy Shaw Communications Inc (NYSE.:) Inc in a $16 Billion deal to make the country’s 2nd-largest telecom provider.
