(Reuters) – JPMorgan (NYSE:) & Chase has resigned as a depositary of global depositary receipts (GDR) of Russia’s largest oil producer Rosneft on May 13, the U.S. bank said on its website.

Last month, JPMorgan & Chase started to allow holders of depositary receipts in Russian companies to cancel them, two sources familiar with the matter said, giving some investors a way to liquidate what have largely been frozen holdings due to the conflict in Ukraine.

Numerous Russian corporations have listed abroad. This has been an issue of high prestige. However, since Russia launched a “special military operations” in Ukraine on February 24, the West has stopped trading Russian securities.

Some Russian businesses have been allowed by the government to continue their depositary receipts. Gazprom, a gas producer (MCX:), was one of those who decided to end it.

Rosneft is yet to announce its plans for its GDR program. Rosneft’s GDRs (issued in 2006) account for 4.8% its total share capital.
