The Defense Production Act was invoked Wednesday by President Joe Biden to help ease the nationwide shortage caused in part by the closing of an important Michigan manufacturing plant.

Biden requires suppliers of baby formula ingredients to ensure that they are directed to the key producers before other customers.

Additionally, the president directed both the Health and Human Services Department and the Department of Agriculture to utilize aircraft from the Defense Department for the collection of infant formula from overseas. This is to ensure that it meets U.S. safety and security standards.

This is important breaking news. Stay tuned for new updates.
